The 2024-25 NHL season was disrupted like most other sports leagues by the Corona Virus pandemic. The season was finally completed in September with the Tampa Bay Lightning beating the Dallas Stars to win the Stanley Cup in six games to claim their second title.
The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has caused several changes to the 2024-25 season. The regular season is scheduled to begin later than usual on January 13, 2020. The number of games has also been reduced from 82 to 56 and the Canadian teams have been put in the same division due to border travel restrictions. The playoffs are scheduled to start in May featuring the top four teams from each division.
